 COMING SOON - Tennessee Disaster Mental Health Strike Team -  Training Academy

 

Beginning in January 2019, the Tennessee Department of Health, in collaboration with the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, established the Tennessee Disaster Mental Health Strike Team through the Tennessee Federation of Fire Chaplains (TFFC). The Strike Team provides Mental Health First Aid, Crisis Intervention and initial mental health triage for citizens and emergency responders following major disasters They also provides timely initial referral to Licensed Mental Health Care Professionals. The Strike Team meets regionally for training as well as to provide crisis intervention services for local emergency professionals and other groups on an as needed basis within their own regions.

Essentials of Emergency Service Chaplaincy

This course provides the foundation for Fire/Rescue/EMS chaplain service and teaches an established and credentialed system of protocols to provide chaplaincy care to emergency service workers and the public. This class provides the initial requirement for Basic Chaplain Certification for the Tennessee Federation of Fire Chaplains. Prerequisites for this course: NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800  (these are all FREE and can be taken by following the link below) – Certificates must be turned in at registration. The course fee will include a copy of the Federation of Fire Chaplains Training Manual.

Red Cross Disaster Spiritual Care

This multiple course workshop will prepare Professional Spiritual Care Providers to work within the American Red Cross (ARC) Disaster Scene and Shelter Operations. Courses include ARC Disaster Spiritual Care, Integrated Care Condolence Teams, Disaster Action Team, Referral to Disaster Mental Health Professionals during times of Disasters, signing up for and
accepting deployments, providing Disaster Spiritual Care to victims following disaster – boots-on-the-ground and virtually. This course provides credentials recognized by the National Volunteers Active in Disasters (NVOAD). This course has an additional application and interview process and will have additional prerequisite on-line courses to complete prior to
