For those who work with traumatized people. Explore the “Stress Continuum” of eustress, traumatic stress, burnout, counter-transference, compassion fatigue, and vicarious traumatization which may occur as a result of helping others. Individual self-report exercises and an experiential group support session will assist the participants to assess their own level of stress through sharing personal experiences with others.

Advanced Chaplain Field Operations

Unlike any class you have ever taken before. Includes advanced tools for disasters, field communications, establishing and maintaining short-term lodging, outdoor operations packing lists, providing healthy and safe rehab, death notification practical experience, and nighttime operational safety. This course fee includes lodging in field conditions and all meals.  We will have two nighttime exercises during this class.

Emergency Service Peer Support Course Set

This course provides the four components of Peer Support Excellence: Individual Crisis Intervention; Mental Health First Aid; Suicide Prevention, Intervention and Post-vention; and Effective Referral.


 TFFC / TESCA is committed to providing quality training courses, educational opportunities, and relevant training materials to prepare emergency service chaplains for a wide span of scenarios. Crisis Informed Peer Para-Counseling (CIPP) expands the support tools of peer counselors to collectively cope with trauma and disasters. CIPP will become the 1:1 follow up service to CISD. The unprecedented mix of unique stressors & disasters with limited psychological resources means at risk populations are seeking a strategic crisis response; one that holistically builds the resilience of those in need and expands the support tools of peer counselors to collectively cope with trauma.

This course provides the nationally recognized Federation of Fire Chaplains foundation for Fire/Rescue/EMS chaplain service and teaches an established and credentialed system of protocols in order to provide chaplaincy to emergency workers and the public.

CISM: Grief Following Trauma


DATE:  August 2-3, 2024 (8am-5pm each day)

Emergency professionals will encounter traumatic death and loss issues personally and professionally. Professionals often feel ill prepared to provide effective care throughout the grief process. This course will cover key grief and loss concepts relating to trauma and traumatic death. Participants will increase their knowledge of how trauma impacts the grief process and will gain skills for evaluating and supporting persons who have experienced traumatic death and loss.
